Georg Goltermann's 3rd concerto was composed during his time as Kapellmeister at the theater in Frankfurt am Main. It is somewhat different in form from the first two concertos, but is nevertheless on a par with the first two works in terms of beauty of sound and virtuosity.
The rediscovery of Goltermann's music by the musicologist Martin Knauer from Celle represents a significant enrichment for the concert repertoire and it is to be hoped that the name Georg Goltermann will once again find its place on concert programs.
