Urtext-Neuland: Die Ouvertüre Leonore Nr. 3 To this day, the two central Fidelio overtures are performed from musical texts that date back to the inaccurate and erroneous first printings of the parts. In the meantime, the source situation for both works has improved significantly due to numerous source discoveries. For the new edition of the Leonore overture, which has been erroneously counted as No. 3 until today, Christian Rudolf Riedel went back for the first time to the Prague score copy rediscovered in 1977. It probably served as a conducting score in 1806, and with its help previously unsolved textual problems could be clarified, such as the famous Presto passage in measure 514.
