Description:
Ludwig van Beethoven composed his Missa solemnis between 1819 and 1822. The present edition is based on the working copy of the score as its main source, which Beethoven probably commissioned immediately after completing the composition. It is the oldest copy of the work and the only copy that was based on the now incomplete autograph. Since the working copy was repeatedly revised and corrected in the course of further copying, it comes closest today to a last-hand version.
