Description:
Mozart probably wrote an oboe concerto for the Salzburg virtuoso Giuseppe Ferlendis in 1777. The work was long considered lost until Bernhard Paumgartner discovered a copy of the parts in 1920, which must have been written shortly after Mozart's death, but which proved to be far less reliable than the copy of the flute concerto. Any source-critical edition must fall back on these parts, since otherwise only a short autograph sketch has surfaced to date. Henrik Wiese's new edition offers a consistent delineation of what can be considered the Urtext and what the informed player must interpret for himself. To this end, the edition for oboe and piano additionally includes a study part in which the solo parts for flute and oboe are synoptically juxtaposed.
"This handsome urtext edition from Breitkopf is edited by Henrik Wiese and comprises the complete suit of full score, orchestral parts, oboe copy and piano accompaniment." (Double Reed News)
