Description:

  • Genre: Pop
The Pop Concerto by Daniel Hellbach is designed for a youth orchestra and a young pianist. The piece consists of three parts (fast - slow - fast) and lasts approximately 7 minutes. In this work, the composer combines stylistic elements from pop, jazz and classical music and thus once again exactly meets the musical tastes of young people.

Solo part
The piano concerto does not place too high a technical demand on the soloist; the level of difficulty corresponds approximately to the intermediate level. From a musical point of view, however, the work requires a wide range of expressive possibilities, as the piece contains elements of rock, jazz, classical and romantic music.

Orchestra
In addition to the strings, the orchestration requires a flute, a clarinet and an alto saxophone. The arrangement of the percussion part, which is not fully composed, is left to the player or their teacher. The CD recording can serve as a suggestion.

Edition for two pianos
In addition to the orchestral score and the part material, the Pop Concerto also exists in a version for two pianos, which is intended to enable the soloist to rehearse. However, the work can also be played and performed in this piano-only version.

Play-along CD
The Pop Concerto was recorded on CD by a professional orchestra and a concert pianist. In addition to a complete version of the concerto, the CD also contains three orchestral versions without the solo part to play along with, in three different tempi. The CD comes as standard with the edition for 2 pianos, but can also be purchased separately.
