Description:
The 'Landon version' by Mozart expert H. C. Robbins Landon, published for the Mozart Year 1991, set standards. For the first time, Landon drew on the attempts of all three Mozart pupils Franz Xaver Süssmayr, Joseph Eybler and Franz Jakob Freystädtler in his meticulous work, which was edited to reflect the latest research. His concept of presenting the unfinished masterpiece in such a way that it comes as close as possible to their additions of 1791/92 has proven itself in practice. Those who wish to perform Mozart's Requiem today in this 'historical guise', and who do not wish to resort to the traditional Süssmayr version or to new restorations or even compositional attempts, are well advised to use the 'Landon version'. The publication of the study score for the Mozart Year 2006 is another important decision-making aid.
