Description:
In the end, Jean Sibelius wrote his Violin Concerto more or less twice. The differences between the original version of 1903/04, which the composer self-critically withdrew immediately after the first performances, and the revision of 1905, which then went out into the world so successfully that posterity puzzles over why Sibelius composed a work for this genre only once. The complete edition volume allows for the first time a direct comparison: both versions of the violin concerto are printed one after the other and commented in detail both in the preface and in the critical report.
