Description:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) composed the Serenade No. 9 in D Major, K. 320 for a graduation ceremony at the University of Salzburg. Completed on August 3, 1779, it was subtitled "Posthorn" due to the inclusion of a part for the valveless brass instrument that was traditionally used to announce the departure of a mail coach. This would have seemed a fitting farewell to the students leaving the university. At the center of the work, the third and fourth movements offer an array of solos for each of the woodwinds in turn. Instrumentation: 2.2.0.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (4.4.3.3.3 in set): Solo Posthorn in set. Reprint edition.
