Description:
It was common practice in the 19th century to arrange symphonies for chamber music ensembles and thus make them more playable. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy arranged his C minor symphony op. 11, which is available in two versions, twice: 1. the version performed in London in 1829 (with the scherzo from the Octet op. 20) as a brilliant chamber music version for piano 4 hands with violin and violoncello ad lib. 2. the well-known version composed in 1824 and printed in 1834 (with the minuet) as a piano version (for 4 hands), which rather fulfills the character of a piano reduction.
