Description:
Haydn wrote his six last famous London Symphonies, Nos. 99-104, during his second stay in London in 1794/95. Amongst them is the Military Symphony which owes both its epithet and success to its unusual instrumentation, which includes the extended percussion and the imitation of Turkish janissary music as was fashionable at that time.
