Description:
The Te Deum from 1832, a large-scale festive work, impresses with its rapid changes of expression and warm orchestral colors. The 15-movement composition combines sonorous, sometimes eight-part choral movements and delicate arias, experimenting with unusual instrumental sounds and ensemble groups. It becomes highly dramatic when blaring trombones and trembling strings announce the Last Judgement, whereupon a soloist sextet pleads for redemption.
