In 1892, Dvorák received the honorable commission from New York to write a festive cantata for the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus. In response, Dvorák composed an impressive work within a short space of time - his "Te Deum", which gives solemn expression to the ancient hymn of praise in four effectively contrasting parts. The Carus edition carefully weighs up the readings of the autograph score and the first print as sources, thus making the work newly accessible in a modern scholarly edition. The complete performance material is available for purchase.

Thanks to the arrangement for chamber orchestra (arr. J. Linckelmann Carus 27.189/50), it is also possible to perform the work on a smaller scale.
