Completed in 1801, the ballet premiered on March 28 that year at the Burgtheater in Vienna in the presence of the Archduchess of Austria, Maria Theresa. Beethoven later used the finale as material for the last movement of his "Eroica" Symphony. Instrumentation:2.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0:Timp: Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set).
