Description:
When Carl Maria von Weber composed the overtura to "Der Freischütz" in May 1820, it was the final musical building block for his opera. In this respect, Weber was able to perfectly trace and condense the grand dramaturgical plan in the overtura. Ultimately, he also had a sonorous calling card for his concert tour through northern Germany and Denmark, where he was able to draw attention to "Der Freischütz" with the Overtura even before the opera premiere. The fact that the introductory orchestral piece has an Italian title fits in with the entire "Der Freischütz" autograph, in which almost all the other numbers are also named in Italian. In addition to the autograph, the Urtext edition is based on the first revised and reliable printed score from 1867.
