Description:
The Speech of the Birds is freely inspired by the famous mystical poem The Conference of the Birds by the Persian poet Fariduddin Attar (12th century). Analogous to the birds in the story, the instruments of the symphony orchestra hold a conference here, with each instrument being introduced individually. The work is conceived as an educational piece to introduce young people to the diversity and timbres of the orchestra. It is designed in such a way that it can also be played by experienced youth orchestras and offers as many players as possible the chance to take on small solo parts. Step by step, the woodwind, brass and string instruments are brought to the fore, just as the birds in Attar's poem interact with each other. (Mathias Rehfeldt).
