Description:
Partitur: gemischter Chor (SSATB) mit Soli (ST) und Orchester. Im Mittelpunkt dieser weihnachtlichen Komposition steht der Choral 'Vom Himmel hoch', dessen Verse in der Reihenfolge vertauscht sind und so dem Ablauf der Weihnachtsgeschichte nach dem Evangelisten Lukas (2, Vers 1-20) angepasst wurden. An zwei Stellen wird je ein Choral in der Art des Quodlibets eingefügt. Choral und Weihnachtsgeschichte verteilen sich über drei Teile, die jeweils durch eine Sonate eingeleitet werden.
