Description:
The work ideally corresponds to a choral cantata. After a prelude, the chorale is introduced in its familiar form. In the other six movements of the cantata, the verses are varied melodically and in terms of instrumentation to such an extent that independent music can unfold, whereby the vocal movement always remains monophonic. Only in the 5th movement do the soprano and baritone perform a duet. The music interprets the text and complements it in a way that both clarifies and explains it.
