Description:
I - THE GUITAR The guitar begins to cry. The rays of dawn break. The guitar begins to cry, and it is useless to try to silence it - it is impossible to silence it. It cries monotonously, like the water cries and like the wind cries over the snow-covered fields. It cannot be silenced; it weeps for distant things. The sand of the south that longs for white camellias. It cries like an arrow without a target or an evening without a morning and the first dead bird on a branch. Oh guitar! A heart mortally wounded by five swords. II - MALAGUEÑA Death comes and goes from the tavern. Black horses and sinister figures roam the deep paths of the guitar. The feverish flowers on the shore smell of salt and the blood of women. Death comes and goes from the tavern. III - CANCIÓN A pretty girl picks olives. The wind that caresses the towers hugs her around the waist. Four riders pass by on Andalusian ponies, dressed in blue and green, with long dark cloaks. Come to Córdoba, my beauty. The girl pays them no attention. Three slender young bullfighters ride past, dressed in orange, with antique silver swords. Come to Seville, my beauty. The girl pays them no heed. In the pale crimson evening light, a young man comes with roses and myrtles like the moon. Come to Granada, my beauty. But the girl does not listen to him; she continues to pick olives, the gray arm of the wind wrapped around her waist.
