Description:
This triptych brings together three important works from Sergei Rachmaninov's vocal oeuvre, in which the melodic line unfolds with extraordinary expressiveness and lyrical freedom. The Vocalise from the Romances op. 34 impresses with its wordless, floating character and reveals a deep intimacy and purity of musical expression. How Fair This Spot (op. 21) unfolds a poetic and contemplative mood in which the music paints an inner landscape characterized by tenderness and melancholy. With Spring Waters (op. 14), a powerful, passionate energy bursts forth, reflecting new beginnings, joie de vivre and the awakening of nature. Colette Mourey's arrangement preserves the composer's romantic spirit while opening up a new tonal perspective that emphasizes the harmonic variety and emotional intensity of the works. Together, these pieces form a multi-faceted arc between contemplation, lyrical expression and exuberant movement.
