This concerto is divided into 4 movements which refer to very specific character traits (hence the subtitle "Humeurs" (moods): - the first is "Resolute" (décidé) and "Sly" (malin), - the second oscillates between melodic calm and rhythmic nervousness, - the third, slow, has the trumpet singing calmly and lovingly, - the fourth ends the whole thing with virtuosity and verve. The writing remains clear throughout, despite changes of color and style, which, like the moods, change and replace each other...
