Description:
This concerto was conceived in the classical form of three distinct movements. The string orchestra has not been limited to a role merely as accompaniment; it offers a complementary concertant voice to that of the tuba. Following the first movement (a strict 2/2) is a lovely Aria (in 6/8 time), which displays the astonishing lyrical resources of the tuba. The final movementis an 'Homage to G. Verdi' (hence the name 'Falstaff Concerto'), in which humor and virtuosity are closely and deftly blended. This work was commissioned by Editions Bim.
