Description:
Amilcare Ponchielli is best known for his opera *La Gioconda*, from which the famous ballet *La Danza delle Ore* is taken. This orchestral scene depicts a choreographed episode that symbolizes the passage of the hours of the day. Ponchielli’s compositional style combines melodic elegance with powerful theatrical expression. The work is divided into several contrasting sections representing morning, day, evening, and night. Its light yet spectacular character has made the piece one of the best-known excerpts of Italian Romanticism. In this arrangement, Bertrand Moren offers a balanced and effective reinterpretation of the original. The arrangement highlights the melodic lines while preserving the dance-like and dramatic spirit of the score. The orchestration emphasizes the dynamic contrasts and the fluid transitions between the musical scenes. This creates a new perspective on a famous work while preserving its expressive and timeless character.
