Description:
STRING QUINTET IN E MAJOR, Op. 11, No. 5 was composed in 1771 by Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805). The quintet, scored for two violins, viola, and two cellos—a configuration Boccherini helped popularize—features the third-movement Minuet in A Major, with its elegant melody, lilting triple meter, and graceful charm. Though originally part of a larger four-movement work, the minuet quickly gained popularity as a standalone piece. Today, it is widely performed both in its original chamber form and in numerous arrangements for orchestra, piano, and other ensembles. A version for string orchestra is presented in this Kalmus edition, with a 2nd cello part that can also be played by contrabass. Instrumentation: String Orchestra (8.8.5.5.5 in set). Reprint edition.
