Description:
This work was originally the Sonata for piano which obtained a First prize in Paris. Several decades later, following a commission by the Chamber Orchestra of Neuchâtel (Switzerland), it was rewritten, with some modifications, as Sonata concertante for string instruments and received its performance in September 2000 by the Neuchâtel ensemble conducted by Jan Schultsz at Pontarlier (France), as part of the Besançon Music Festival. Musical criticism recognized a sound and personal style, a captivating sense of rhythm and a tender lyricism in the slow movement with its cello solo part. A final version performed by the same ensemble in March 2008 at Neuchâtel was once again warmly welcomed by the audience.
