Description:
The work Lezione 5 was composed in the early 18th century (c. 1720s) by Attilio Ariosti (1666-1729), an Italian composer and virtuoso violist active across Europe, including important appointments in Berlin, Vienna, and London. The designation "Lezione" reflects the work's origin within a set of instructional or didactic pieces, likely intended both for performance and for the cultivation of stylistic and technical refinement among players. Ariosti's music occupies a transitional space between the late Baroque and emerging galant styles. This arrangement was completed by Jean Schwiller, and retitled as Suite for String Orchestra No. 5. A count of 8-8-5-5-5 string are included in the set. Reprint edition.
