Description:
What would an elf do with a full day of no responsibilities? The Elf's Day Off is a fun, sparkly piece that celebrates everyone's need for some R&R. Students will enjoy the off the string 8th notes and bright character of the work. Part of the RSM Getting in Gear Companion Series, this piece reinforces the 1-octave Eb Major Scale, using only one finger pattern the entire time.
About this Piece:
This piece was written as a way to reinforce the one-octave Eb Major Scale with your students. It's another one of those scales that we always teach, but rarely have a performance opportunity until the grade level is much higher. Using only the one-octave keeps students in one finger pattern the entire time. The sleigh bells and mallets are optional, but do add an extra bit of holiday charm. This piece is part of the Getting in Gear Companion Series!
Warm-up suggestions are included in the score that go along with Getting in Gear: Fundamental Warm-ups for String Orchestra
