Description:
After his studies in Leipzig, the Finnish composer and organist Oskar Merikanto worked on the largest organ in the country, the newly built Walcker organ of the New Church in Helsinki. He was particularly known for the first major Finnish national opera, which he penned, as well as for his songs and piano works. With this edition, Lambert Kleesattel adds transcriptions of some of his most beautiful character pieces to his rather small organ oeuvre: Well "in the fingers", these pieces possess a great emotional depth and expressiveness and immediately captivate the listeners with their "Nordic style" both in church services and in concerts.
