Choralvorspiele

This collection of preludes, which is also wonderfully suitable as a prelude album, with mostly newly written pieces, can be played without too much practicing. As the composers were given a free hand stylistically, the booklet offers an impressive musical variety. "This booklet fascinated me from the very beginning, so much so that I played it through from start to finish in one breath. It is a wonderful example of how chorale-based organ music for church services should actually be: varied and imaginative, expressive, melodically and harmonically interesting, simple and yet good-sounding and yet easy to play - congratulations!" (Musik und Gottesdienst 3/2003) "The collection is expressly intended for part-time organists, but full-time organists will also enjoy it. The compositions by Herfried Mencke are downright hit-suspicious." (Church Music. News EKHN 1/2003)
