Description:
In his capacity as Cantor of St. Konrad Church Freiburg in Breisgau, Bertold Hummel composed in 1957 his Missa brevis (without Credo), op. 18b for precentor, unison choir, congregation and organ in order to provide suitable material for Sundays with a reduced choir attendance. The later version, dividing the choir into soprano and alto voices, (op. 18c), enjoys great popularity in many church congregations.
