In the manner of a character variation, Gunter Kennel processes the chorale melody to "Geh aus, mein Herz, und suche Freud" and gives free rein to his joy of playing. The toccata on "Nun danket all und bringet Ehr" is characterized by constant movement in semiquavers, which alternate with the quiet chorale lines. The fluid movement continues in the fugue. "The booklet fills an existing gap. This little suite consists of nine pretty variations, which vary the ever-present melody in many different ways. The moderate level of difficulty and the possibility of using the individual variations as independent movements is very appealing, and the toccata and fugue are virtuosic."
