Description:
With the "Prélude et Fugue sur le nom d'Alain Op. 7", Maurice Duruflé created one of the most moving masterpieces of 20th-century French organ literature. Dedicated to his close friend and fellow composer Jehan Alain, who fell in World War II, this monumental composition blends a deeply felt homage with breathtaking virtuosity. The Prélude enchants with shimmering tonal colors and delicate rhythmic sophistication based on a musical motif derived from Alain's name. The subsequent fugue builds to a thrilling, powerful finale that masterfully incorporates Alain's famous "Litanies" theme. This high-quality sheet music edition from the renowned Éditions Durand provides an exceptional, precise score for both study and performance. An indispensable centerpiece for ambitious organists and a magnificent highlight for any concert program.
