Description:
Volume 1 of the section "Arrangements of works by other composers" contains mainly works by Johann Sebastian Bach, arranged for organ. In addition to preludes and fugues from the "Well-Tempered Clavier", several toccatas and the "Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue", the reworking of the two-part inventions into a "School of Trio Playing" is particularly striking. Reger also made strong interventions in "Der heilige Franz von Paula auf den Wogen schreitend" by Franz Liszt. The "Selected pieces by classical and modern masters" for harmonium offer the opposite, where he largely restricted himself to pleasant sections for domestic music purposes in works by Frédéric Chopin, among others. / Since January 2008, the Max-Reger-Institut (MRI) in Karlsruhe has been producing a scholarly-critical edition of Reger's works (RWA). It is sponsored by the Mainz Academy of Sciences and Literature and, as a hybrid edition, is breaking new ground in editorial technology. The digital offerings belonging to the volume are published in an online portal. / Contents: Selected pieces by classical and modern masters, Harmonium collection-B1; Franz Liszt, Legend >Der heilige Franz von Paula auf den Wogen schreitend<, Liszt-B1; Johann Sebastian Bach, Selected piano pieces, Bach-B6; Schule des Triospiels, J.S.
