Description:
The Marian antiphon "Salve regina" is sung during the time of the year. The text of the "Salve regina" is attributed to Hermann von Reichenau (11th century). There are two melodies of the "Salve regina", namely a solemn one (tonus solemnis) and a simple one (tonus simplex). The solemn Gregorian chant can be found in the "Graduale romanum". The simple mode of singing goes back to Henri Dumont (1610-1684).
The idea for this composition arose after an improvisation on this theme in the fRauenkloster Schellenberg (Liechtenstein).
The piece is divided into three parts. The beginning of the Gregorian antiphon (Tonus solemnis) is paraphrased freely in this piece. Towards the end there is a short quotation from the "Salve regina" by Henri Dumont (Tonus simplex).
This work is suitable for both church services and concert performances.
Stitched edition.
