The Silberklänge were commissioned for the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition 2020 in Leipzig.
The composer Zsigmond Szathmáry says: On my first visit to the Georgenkirche in Rötha, I was impressed by the incredibly lively and noble sounds of the historic Silbermann organ (1721), the inexhaustible variability of possible color combinations, the excellent acoustics of the church and, last but not least, the historical location, which shaped and tamed my musical thoughts and led me into 'my' baroque world.
The edition contains the registration details that correspond to the sound the composer wanted on this organ. Playing the work on organs with a different set of stops opens up a wider range of timbres.
