Description:
From the preface:
This volume expands Felix Bräuer's organ sonatas. While the first two volumes shed light on the "chorale sonata" type, this collection now presents larger, freer sonatas.
The first sonata, entitled "Friedensgebet" (Prayer for Peace), was originally a composition for two organs. Composed in 2018 as a commission for the Lausitzer Musiksommer and now published as a version for one player. The form of the "Triptychon" has been retained.
The second sonata with the appropriate title "Antiqua" consists of older compositions by Felix Bräuer from the beginning of his studies in 2008. Stylistically and formally distant from his current compositions, but no less appealing.
The fantasies to the four Marian antiphons were almost ideal as a combination for the sonata. In the Catholic liturgy, these antiphons are sung during Vespers and have their own antiphons for Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and the cycle of the year. The present movements of this sonata are also suitable as a prelude or postlude to this vespers.
The last two sonatas "Festiva" and "Omnis tempore" are particularly suitable for liturgical use, with rather short but effective movements.
Ring binding.
