He cared neither for money nor for being published and each work is characterized by his bonds of friendship or his pedagogical commitment. His great, natural musical talent, his modesty and his absolute serenity in the face of various contemporary trends have produced delightful works that nevertheless fit into the mainstream of American music of his time.
