Description:
The ANACROUSE collection offers novice and experienced pianists alike a wide choice of classical works, from the Renaissance to the modern era.
We have set ourselves the goal of offering both "must-haves" from the classical repertoire and pieces by sometimes forgotten composers, all of undeniable pedagogical value. Each piece, sold individually, has been the subject of careful editorial work, both in terms of the musical text and its engraving, in order to guarantee musicians the conditions essential to the pleasures derived from frequent trade in these works.
The scores are offered in the form of traditional works (paper sheets), and also available by download.
The original melody of "A vous dirai-je maman" was not composed by the famous Mozart. The first publication of this nursery rhyme dates back to 1761 in "Amusements d'une Heure et Demy" by Mr Bouin. The musical theme is also associated with one of the most popular English children's songs, "Twinkle, twinkle, star" (brille, brille, petite étoile).
This French version must have been so familiar to Mozart that, at the age of 22, he composed twelve variations based on the nursery rhyme. Given his father's stern, ambitious temperament, it's likely that Mozart chose the nursery rhyme melody to tease him. A good-natured child, he appreciated jokes and clever wordplay.
These delightful variations refresh with pianistic frivolity. Close your eyes, Mozart has prepared an initiatory journey through the wonderful world of childhood.
