Description:
Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) composed his CONCERTO FOR PIANO No. 2 in A minor, Op. 85 in 1816, at the height of his career as a virtuoso pianist and composer bridging the Classical and early Romantic eras. Written during his tenure as Kapellmeister in Stuttgart, the concerto reflects both the brilliance of Mozart, under whom Hummel studied, and the forward-looking virtuosity that would later influence Chopin and Liszt. Today, while not as frequently performed as the concertos of Beethoven or later Romantic masters, Hummel's PIANO CONCERTO No. 2 is increasingly appreciated for its elegance, charm, and historical importance, standing as a vital link between the Classical concerto tradition and the flowering of Romantic pianism. Instrumentation: 1.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set): Solo Piano (in Pno-Cond Sc): CS (Pno-Cond Sc; NO FULL SCORE) in set. Reprint edition.
