Description:
Borys Lyatoshynsky's Slavonic Concerto is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of Ukrainian classical music.
The uniqueness of this work is that it is based entirely on the folk melodies or motifs of Ukraine and its neighbouring countries. Written in the tradition of the great concertos of the nineteenth and first part of the twentieth century, this work is very personal and perfectly faithful to the composer's style and aesthetics because of his discoveries and audacity.
The piano making, very virtuosic, despite a sometimes ferocious difficulty, does not lack intimacy, richness and refinement. The entangled dialogue between the soloist and the orchestra in an overall dramaturgical discourse creates a veritable symphonic tableau.
