Description:
The folk wave of the sixties and seventies was mainly a matter for singers and guitarists. This is simply because you can take a guitar and other folk instruments such as the recorder, mandolin, hurdy-gurdy and spoons (!) with you wherever you feel like singing together, around a campfire, at festivals, demonstrations and so on. The piano stays at home. If a collection of well-known folk songs is presented here in a piano arrangement, it is in response to the great demand from young piano players, pupils and adults for contemporary but not undemanding literature for home use. The compilation of this collection was deliberately based on a broad concept of folk music. It ranges from old German folk songs from the 16th century to chantis, spirituals and blues to beat oldies and songs by today's songwriters.
This collection is ideal for teaching popular harmony and chord playing techniques on the piano. An appendix introduces pianists to free playing using chord symbols (songbooks with numbered melodies) so that they can play songs without sheet music.
Good luck, stay happy!
