Gerhard Fell

Freimaurerische Ritualmusiken 1: Musik für die Aufnahme als Lehrling

What does the journey sound like—from the very beginning to venturing out into the world? In "Masonic Ritual Music," Volume 1: "Music for the Initiation of an Apprentice," Gerhard Fell guides the listener through the dramatic arc of the Masonic initiation ritual with eight piano pieces he composed specifically for this purpose.

The music invites listeners to pause and reflect—and combines the special atmosphere of initiation with a contemporary, accessible musical language. Even listeners more familiar with popular music than with classical music will find their own way into this work. In "Bei der Arbeit," Fell adds "a subtly placed accent" with a quotation from the overture to Mozart’s "Magic Flute.

This piano score is intended for Freemasons who wish to provide live musical accompaniment for their rituals. At the same time, it offers anyone with an interest a special glimpse into the world of thought and emotion within Freemasonry.
