When Patrick's youngest daughter was in her final year of piano at the music academy, she wanted to play another work by her father as her final exam piece. That year also marked her graduation from secondary school. The opportunity to choose her own path in higher education was, as it is for many, an exciting prospect.
This new phase of life also brings questions and uncertainties. For this reason, the piece begins with a kind of announcement theme, signalling an important step, followed by a cheerful melody.
