The cycle of ten Nocturnes for piano by Felix Bräuer was composed in 2020/21 - when the prevailing coronavirus pandemic and the associated measures and lockdowns led to a number of restrictions, including in the musical and cultural sphere. Unlike Frédéric Chopin's (1810-1849) large, very virtuosic Nocturnes, these ten pieces are written in Bräuer's style as character pieces with "pictorial contemplation" and are also explicitly conceived as "relaxation" or "chill-out music". Often characterized by ostinati or repetitions.
