The `Kopf Kino Kantaten` (cinema cantatas in the head) consist of 24 piano pieces lasting from one to one and a half minutes. In the tradition of salon music, these pieces navigate between classical and jazz.
They marry the known with the unknown, playing with the full range and sonority of the piano. With their varied rhythms, colorful sounds and melodies, `Kopf Kino Kantaten` are meant to take listeners on a journey.
The `Kopf Kino Kantaten` owe their origin to the artist's intense work on the history of the piano. Connotations, allusions or similarities with other piano music are neither really sought-after nor explicitly avoided by the composer. The `Kopf Kino Kantaten` are here to resurrect the history of the piano.
This edition includes a selection of 7 works.
The `Kopf Kino Kantation` were recorded on Compact Disc and Vinyl by Metaracords (meta059 & meta 060). The Compact Disc set is a double one, offering 2 versions of the recordings: the first is a performance of the works on a concert grand piano, the second on an old upright. The Vinyl set features just this second version.
