We have set ourselves the goal of offering both "must-haves" from the classical repertoire and pieces by sometimes forgotten composers, all of undeniable pedagogical value. Each piece, sold individually, has been the subject of careful editorial work, both in terms of the musical text and its engraving, in order to guarantee musicians the conditions essential to the pleasures derived from frequent trade in these works.
The scores are offered as traditional works (paper sheets), and also available by download.
Inspired by the fairy tale by Charles Perrault and the Grimm brothers, Sleeping Beauty is a ballet consisting of a prologue, three acts and five tableaux. Created in 1890, celebrated choreographer Marius Petipa's rigorously constructed ensemble movements and brilliant solo steps are among the most accomplished works in the classical dance repertoire. The ballet was more favorably received by the press than Swan Lake, and both the public and the Tsar ("very pretty" was his only comment) were quick to respond with enthusiasm.
However, Tchaikovsky was not fortunate enough to benefit from the international success of his work (he died in 1893).
Today, Sleeping Beauty remains one of the most frequently staged ballets in the world. Its music remains engraved in everyone's memory, linked to Walt Disney's work of the same title... indeed, has anyone ever read that Tchaikovsky invented cartoon music before its time?
