The ANACROUSE collection offers novice and experienced pianists alike a wide choice of classical works, from the Renaissance to the modern era.

We have set ourselves the goal of offering both "must-haves" from the classical repertoire and pieces by sometimes forgotten composers, all of undeniable pedagogical value. Each piece, sold individually, has been the subject of careful editorial work, both in terms of the musical text and its engraving, in order to guarantee musicians the conditions indispensable to the pleasures derived from the frequent trade in these works.

The scores are offered in the form of traditional works (paper sheets), and also available by download.

Saint-Saëns's Swan is a famous duet for piano and cello. It is part of a musical suite for orchestra and piano entitled Carnaval des Animaux, grande fantaisie zoologique. The work comprises fourteen movements, written during a trip to Austria in February 1886. Saint-Saëns, during his lifetime, did not wish the work to be made public, with the exception of the Cygne. This piece is illustrated by the ballerina Anna Pavlowa. Her interpretation of the Swan popularized the piece as "Death of the Swan". In Carnaval des animaux, Saint-Saëns depicts animal portraits: elephants, cuckoos, kangaroos and the pianists themselves are part of this zoological parade. These are musical parodies in which the author mocks composers and performers. He describes them with biting humor, sometimes justified.
According to a revelation by the composer, the Swan is "noble nonsense". This piece, arranged for a single piano, features a lilting, languorous and pathetic melody based on a vaporous harmony. Arabesques of moving voluptuousness convey the tranquil waves in which a swan gracefully swims, awakening until it dozes off.
