Description:
Like any piano teacher, I'm constantly on the lookout for ideas to motivate young and not-so-young students to discover the instrument.
The repertoire for Piano Quatre Mains accessible to beginners is quite limited. Piano writing in this genre has to take into account a weak piano technique and notions of solfeggio still being learned, without all this detracting from the musical result.
This is why I had the idea of creating this "great beginners" collection, attentive to these difficulties, a collection where any young pianist can tackle a piece for Four Hands right from his first lesson, with his teacher or another pupil. The experience, applied first and foremost with my pupils, is truly enriching: it reveals the importance of rhythm, reinforces musicality and motivation, and above all, leads to the sharing of music and listening to others.
As an anecdote...I gave a six-year-old pupil, who was in his second lesson, the study of one of the first pieces in this collection. I quickly got the hang of it, and told him we were going to play it together four-handed. After a few bars, he smiled at me, as by then he was already a pianist.
