Description:
Composed at the age of 19, this Requiem for solo piano, following the path of a traditional requiem but with a single instrument and lasting nearly an hour, exposes and transmits the vision of the composer's death as well as its sublimation.
Like Franz Liszt's Poetic and Religious Harmonies and Totentanz or Alfred Schnittke's Second Symphony, this work is mainly rooted in medieval sacred music.
The piano style and musical writing, rich, ranging from refined style to daring virtuosity, with an assumed poly-stylism, are above all at the service of the dramaturgy, in a kind of spiritual procession.
