Description:
The Kinderszenen, composed in the spring of 1838, are among the best-known and most popular works in piano literature. No. 7 in particular, the Träumerei, began an unprecedented triumphal march through the musical world in the second half of the 19th century. This carefully revised edition is the first to include handwritten improvements and altered tempo markings in Schumann's hand in one of the two surviving copies of the first edition from 1839, which came into the possession of the Robert Schumann House in Zwickau in 1994. One of the differences between this edition and Clara Schumann's instructive edition is the metronome markings, which is why the tempo and phrasing of some of the pieces deviate considerably from the usual sound.
