Sensing was written partly as a 'prelude' to Scriabin's 9th Piano Sonata ('Black Mass'). In tribute to Scriabin the music explores a variety of keyboard 'touch' and 'coliur/taste', in terms of harmony and texture, moving from a hesitant, fragmentary opening towards music more sustained and expressive.
